When visiting Chamonix, the Aiguille du Midi has to be on your to-do list. It is the main attraction of Chamonix both in winter and summer. The cable car of Aiguille du Midi will take you to 3842 meters high. At this altitude, the panoramic view is breathtaking : Mont blanc, Swiss, Italian and French summits, Chamonix valley...
Enjoy the view over the longest glacier in France at the Montenvers Mer de Glace. The red cogwheel train drives from Chamonix center 1035m to the Montenvers train station 1913m. On the spot, you can find a souvenir shop, a snack, a mountain refuge, an exhibition about the glacier and a cristal gallery. Works are under progress at the Montenvers, a new station is under construction. It should be entirely finished in 2025.
If you want to make the most of being so close to Switzerland you could hop on board the Mont Blanc Express train, enjoy the scenery as you descend and visit the Fondation Gianadda, a fantastic museum in Martigny, Switzerland, which regularly hosts the works of world-renowned artists.
For a relaxing day out, and a few hours of pure well-being, drive to the thermal baths in Saillon or Lavey (about a 1hr drive).
To go to Italy you can either go through the Mont-Blanc tunnel or go via Switzerland and the Petit St Bernard's pass, a longer but very scenic route which leads to the Aosta valley and Courmayeur. Access to the skiing area in Courmayeur is free for all holders of a Mont-Blanc Unlimited lift pass. The Val Ferret offers a different landscape and many possibilities of enjoyment for cross country skiers and hikers alike.
Winter and Summer alike the Grands Montets cable-car will lead you up to 3300m, at the heart of high mountains ; you will discover a breathtaking viewpoint on the Argentiere glacier, les Drus, Aiguilles Rouges...and Mont Blanc of course!
What more can be said about Grands-Montets, the Mecca of freeriding and off-piste skiing! The best would be for you to come and ski for yourself after a fresh snowfall !
A few steps from the hotel, this beginner ski area is equiped with two drag-lifts. It is ideal for beginners learning to ski and is also a fun and safe place for snow sledding. A snack bar is located at the foot of the lifts. Les Chosalets ski area is also situated right by the crosscountry skiing and pedestrian trails which run through the valley.
A sunny and family-friendly ski area ! It can be reached either from Le Tour or from Vallorcine. The Le Tour side of the ski area offers a lovely view on the entire Chamonix valley, as well as the Aiguilles Rouges and Mont Blanc massifs. It also hosts a filmed and timed slalom stadium which is not to be missed ! The Vallorcine side of the mountain offers lots of nice forest trails, steeper slopes and secret off-piste areas!
This is certainly the sunniest ski area in the whole valley; it also offers breathtaking views on Mont-Blanc and the surrounding peaks. The two areas are linked together and total 32 slopes with various levels of difficulty.
